Puerto Varas & Lake Llanquihue
Set along the shores of Chile’s second-largest lake, Puerto Varas blends German heritage, refined gastronomy, and panoramic views of the snow-capped Osorno Volcano. It is the ideal base for exploring the Lake District’s alpine villages, forests, and waterways.
Osorno Volcano
One of South America’s most perfectly shaped volcanoes, Osorno rises above Lake Llanquihue in near-perfect symmetry. Scenic viewpoints and gentle mountain trails reveal sweeping vistas of volcanoes, lakes, and native forests.
Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park
Chile’s oldest national park is home to the emerald waters of Todos los Santos Lake and the Petrohué Falls, where turquoise rapids surge through ancient volcanic lava formations beneath the towering Andes.
Castro’s Palafitos
The colorful stilt houses lining Castro’s waterfront reflect Chiloé’s maritime heritage and centuries-old relationship with the tides. Today, many have been thoughtfully restored as boutique hotels, cafés, and artisan workshops.
UNESCO Wooden Churches
Built entirely from native timber by master shipbuilders, Chiloé’s historic wooden churches represent a remarkable fusion of European religious architecture and local craftsmanship. Sixteen of these extraordinary churches have been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Puñihuil Penguin Colony
Just off Chiloé’s northwestern coast, the small islets of Puñihuil are the only known breeding site where Humboldt and Magellanic penguins nest side by side, alongside seabirds, sea lions, and rich marine wildlife.
